Meet the founders

Crewby was founded by Anita and Silas Burke.

Silas has spent years working within drilling and FIFO environments, starting at entry-level and understanding firsthand what it takes to build a career on the rigs. He knows the physical demands, the long shifts, the expectations of supervisors, and the reality of proving yourself from the ground up.

Anita has lived the FIFO lifestyle from the home front. Navigating rosters, raising a family during swings, and understanding the emotional and practical pressures that come with working away. Together, we’ve experienced FIFO through different stages of life, from early career to growing responsibilities at home.

We built Crewby because we saw a consistent gap.

Too many entry-level workers step onto site underprepared for the lifestyle. Too many operators deal with early exits that could have been prevented with better screening and clearer expectations. And too many families are left to figure it out on their own.

Crewby exists to close that gap.

Our focus is simple: prepare people properly, assess for genuine fit, and provide steady support beyond placement. We’re not interested in high-volume recruitment. We’re interested in stronger crews, better retention, and a more sustainable FIFO experience for everyone involved.

We’ve lived it. We understand it. And we’re building Crewby around that lived experience.

The support crew behind the crew

Crewby was built to improve how entry level FIFO crews are prepared, placed and supported. We believe preparation and ongoing support are critical to long term success on site – for both workers and operators.

Why we started Crewby

______________________________________________________________________

Too often, entry level crew are placed into FIFO roles without a clear understanding of the lifestyle or expectations. This leads to early exits, frustration and instability on site.

Crewby was created to close that gap. Focusing on readiness, right fit hiring, and support beyond day one.

Built on lived FIFO experience

We’ve been there and understand FIFO, from all angles.

Shaped by real experience

We’ve lived the FIFO life as the worker on site, and as the partner and family at home. We understand the operational pressures, the long shifts, the camp routines and the expectations from all sides.

We’ve navigated dating life, building a family, and building a home – all while working FIFO.

Through all stages of life

We’ve experienced FIFO through different stages of life – starting out early in a career, navigating growing responsibilities, managing family commitments and thinking about long term stability.

That perspective shapes how we prepare and support the people we work with.

The impacts on everyone involved

We know that FIFO doesn’t just affect performance on site. It impacts relationships, finances, routines and long term planning.

That’s why Crewby focuses on readiness, honest conversations, and ongoing support beyond placement.
